Qashqai Rugs : Qashqai rugs are woven by nomads who live in the mountainous areas of Southwest Persia, the provinces of Fars, Khuzestan, south of Isfahan and around the city Shiraz. Their rugs have a high knot density and a wide variety of designs, usually in deep red and blue colours. They weave rugs, Kilims and decorative textiles (ribbons, bags, etc.), which depict scenes from their lives with various representation of humans, animals, birds, trees and flowers.

Yalameh Rugs : The name stands for the rugs woven by the Nomads Yalameh, who live in the province Fars in southern Persia. Their colours are usually red, dark blue, brown and orange. They use very soft wool. Their motifs are very characteristic with big, repeated medallion in geometric designs and figures of animals or human all over the rug. The Yalameh rugs look much alike the Shiraz rugs.

Classic rugs: Rugs that are woven in urban centres in fixed workshops and looms(as opposed to nomads). Their designs are first done on paper by rug designers. These designs are strictly conducted by the weaver during the manufacturing. Even in these rugs, though there may be slight variations in weaving.

Flat woven at one or both ends of the rug's width: In some rugs the nomads weave at fringes on a narrow Kilim one or both sides of the width, or they weave them artistically into small braids.
