Tuyserkan Rugs : The city of Tuyserkan is located 10 km south of Hamadan in a fabulous valley in the Alvand mountains. In all the villages of the city they weave beautiful rugs which get the name Tuyserkan. They are of very good quality and carefully woven. Typical pattern of Tuyserkan rugs is a zig-zag line along the border that is reminiscent of Malayer rugs. The centre useally has a single large rhombus. Their colours are usually Indigo blue and beige. The quality of the wool which is dyedwith herbal colours is excellent and with a special glow.
Hamadan Rugs : The city of Hamadan is situated in the Northwestern part of Iran, 300 kilometres west of Tehran. Many of the rugs are sold under their own names, such as Nahavand, Tuiserkan, Malayer, Hosseinabad, Burchalow, Enjilas, Lilihan, Khamse and Zanjan. The simplest rugs of the area are sold under the name of Hamadan. Each village has got its own style in weaving rugs with their own designs and colours. In most Hamadan rugs and rugs they use high quality wool and a variety of colours.The colours are herbal and various shades of blue indigo and shades of red dominate the rug.
Nomadic rugs: Rugs woven by nomads. Nomads move continuously and do not stay permanently in one geographic region. They manufacture (weave) handmade rugs on collapsible looms. Due to that fact there may be slight variations in weaving and their rugs are sometimes uneven in shape. Also the weaving is made from memory and it depends on each artisans momentary inspiration. As a result, the designs in some rugs are not even on the entire surface.

Horizontal or vertical shading in the rug pile: The shading is due to folding the rug during transportation. When the rug is laid and stepped-on they will vanish. Examples
Abrash: Due to the different amount of grease in the wool and the added salt during the process of dyeing, the wool has got a varying colour absorbance. This is not very visible before weaving. During the weaving though, lines of the same colour are formed in the rug. This is called Abrash (which in Farsi means little cloud) and it shows that the wool was not manufactured using chemical means and marks the naturalness and authenticity of the rugs. Examples
